The troublesome experience of festivals and other music events in Gunnersbury Park was discussed in detail at the Chiswick Area Forum on Tuesday, 20th June.
Local resident Peter Robertson, a musician and organiser of outdoor festivals, explained how noise works from all perspectives: volume, the boom of the bass, the time of day affecting how noise travels, perception, experience and the structure of sets including peaks throughout and at the end. His report is fascinating and well worth reading if you want to understand why the 2022 Waterworks festival caused so many complaints including where Peter lives 1.78km away and as far away as Shepherd's Bush, Kew Green and well into Ealing.
